Supporting, Sustaining and Growing

Georgia's Dairy Industry

About Georgia's Dairy Industry
Georgia dairy industry

Georgia possesses a unique set of characteristics that enables it to remain one of the major milk producing states in the deep south. With a demand for milk which will only increase along with its growing population, three major milk producing facilities, and high federally regulated milk prices, Georgia’s dairy industry is positioned for growth. Mild temperatures, long growing seasons, and extension support from the University of Georgia’s College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences combine to make Georgia a great opportunity for dairy farm families.

Our Programs

Georgia Milk Producers works to educate dairy producers, consumers and governing officials on all issues, such as legislation, environmental regulations, animal health and milk pricing/Federal Orders affecting Georgia’s dairy industry. Georgia's dairy producers vote, by referendum, every three years to maintain its operation. Producers pay a 1-cent per hundredweight assessment enabling Georgia Milk to operate programs of communication, promotion and education. Click below to learn more about our programs.
